November 2015 – net worth and expenses
Another great month! 2015 is an incredible year – so far. I hope, it never ends.
Unfortunately, this is only true for the financial side of things. Work wise it is a terrible year. 2016 will bring a change! Right now the most likely scenario is a further reduction of my working time. But I do not know how my boss(es) will react.
But back to the numbers:
- brokerage accounts 243.4k (-0.8k)
- ETFs 3.3k (+0.7k)
- cash 32.1k (+25.7k)
- alternative investments 32.8k (-0.1k)
- taxes -22.7k
- total 288.9k (+20.5k)
I cashed 20k out, so the brokerage accounts would be up 19.2k and cash only +5.7k. I got a tax return of 4k.
Monthly expenses
- January 2.5k
- February 2.7k
- March 2.7k
- April 3.2k
- May 3.5k
- June 2.6k
- July 2.9k
- August 2.6k
- September 3.1k
- October 3.6k
- November 3.3k
November was an expensive month. There were quite some Amazon instant sales where I could not resist. Unfortunately this continues in December, as some purchases are due in a few days. Also, I bought a quarter of a cow (over 400 Euros). But this will be the last time. In the future I will buy specific parts only (mostly ground beef).
Our yearly expenses should be below 36k (this was my revised goal). For next year I target the same amount.

I can only applaud you in your dedication. We spent over $100 K USD this year and felt some restrictions already. Same as yourself next year will be rough, job wise. I think drop in the energy and the rest of the commodity prices is a leading indicator of another crisis coming,

If the house is paid off and when we cancel all pension plans, we should be able to live with 2.000 Euros a month. We have small kids, so almost no going out (both our parents live far away).
